Where can you buy a Mega Millions play? These KS retailers have sold big winning tickets
The Mega Millions jackpot has reached almost a $1 billion grand prize, and the next drawing is set for Friday night.
Here’s what to know about the lottery in Kansas and your odds of getting the grand prize.
The current jackpot sits at $940 million. The prize will be given in 30 yearly installments unless the cash option is chosen, which would pay out $483.5 million to a lucky winner.
Mega Millions drawings are every Tuesday and Friday at 10 p.m. Central Standard Time.
Where can I buy my Mega Millions ticket?
Participants can purchase their tickets up to 15 minutes before the drawing, so you can purchase yours by 9:45 p.m. at the latest.
Lottery tickets can be purchased at Dillons, Quick Trip, liquor stores, gas stations and more. For a complete list of retailers, visit Kansas Lottery’s website.
The lottery does not track the stores who have sold the most winning tickets, but do have a list of the stores who have sold the highest prizes since 2019. Those winnings are identified as prizes of $600 or higher.
While none are in Wichita, there are locations in Hutchinson, Topeka, Salina and Emporia.
Here’s that list:
- Vern’s Retail Liquor, 3700 SW Gage Blvd. in Topeka, has sold 113.
- VFW 1361, 328 N Van Buren in Hutchinson, has sold 84.
- The Blind Pig, 2501 Market Place in Salina, has sold 79.
- VFW 1980, 932 Graphic Arts Road in Emporia, has sold 74.
- B&J’s Smoke Shop, 619 E 4th St. in Hutchinson, has sold 66.
Kansas Lottery had sold 396,609 tickets for the last drawing Jan. 3, a spokesperson said in an email to the Eagle.
The odds of winning or sharing the Mega Millions jackpot is 1 in 302,575,350, according to Kansas Lottery’s website.
