Man dies after pickup hits guard rail, goes airborne and crashes into creek bed

A Kansas man died after his pickup crashed on a highway late Saturday night.

Gerald Thouvenelle, 67, of Russell, was driving a Ford F-350 on K-18 a mile east of the east U.S. 281 junction in Russell County at around 10:45 p.m., a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report states.

The pickup left the road and went into the ditch, where it hit a guard rail, the report states. The pickup then became airborne before landing in a creek bed, where it crashed into a concrete wall.

Thouvenelle was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the report states.
