The Ted Cruz campaign plans to host a Wichita rally Friday night ahead of the Kansas caucuses.

Rafael Cruz, the father of the Texas senator, will attend along with Rep. Tim Huelskamp of Kansas and Rep. Jim Bridenstine of Oklahoma.

Kansas campaign chairman Rep. Mark Kahrs, R-Wichita, says Cruz will not attend.

“He’s campaigning tomorrow evening in Louisiana so he will not be at the rally,” Kahrs said Thursday.

Huelskamp, who represents western Kansas, endorsed Cruz for president two weeks ago. Cruz picked up Super Tuesday wins in Texas, Oklahoma and Alaska.

The rally will be at the Wichita Marriott, 9100 Corporate Hill Drive, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Residents can RVSP for the rally at eventbrite.com, according to a Sedgwick County Republican Party news release.
