Republican Mark Hutton on Friday said he was ending run for governor of Kansas.
The former state lawmaker and Wichita businessman had struggled to stand out in the Republican field that still includes Gov. Jeff Colyer, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Insurance Commissioner Ken Selzer and former nominee Jim Barnett.
“I believe the solutions to our state’s challenges lie in its people, not its politicians, and I am confident that the great people of Kansas will be what carries us all forward,” Hutton said in a statement.
A poll last month showed Hutton with 3 percent support.
Republican Wink Hartman, a Wichita oil magnate, ended his campaign in February.
