South-central Kansas voters will have four choices for Congress this November.
Miranda Allen, a Kiowa businesswoman, announced Tuesday she qualified for the ballot as an independent in Kansas' 4th Congressional District, which includes most of south-central Kansas.
“An independent can work with all sides of an issue to find a workable solution,” Allen said in a campaign press release.
Allen submitted about 9,000 signatures to the Kansas secretary of state’s office in August, according to the release. She needed 5,000 to qualify for the Nov. 8 general election.
The seat is occupied by U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo, a Republican. Dan Giroux won the Democratic primary. Gordon Bakken is running as a Libertarian.
