A video of a former president taken by a Georgia man last week has made quite the impression on Twitter.
James Parker Sheffield, or @JayShef, reports that he was on a Delta Air Lines flight to Washington, D.C., from Atlanta on Thursday when he noticed former President Jimmy Carter on the aircraft.
Sheffield took a video of Carter, 92, walking down the aisle of the plane and shaking hands with passengers. Sheffield said Carter shook the hand of every passenger on the flight.
Numerous Twitter users replied to Sheffield’s tweet, many lauding Carter for his warmth. As of early Monday morning, Sheffield’s original post had been retweeted more than 13,000 times and more than 35,000 Twitter users had liked it.
“Delta is always proud to fly former President Carter,” said Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant in an email. “His taking the time to shake hands with fellow customers is a magnanimous gesture consistent with his decades of public and philanthropic service.”
Carter served as the 39th president of the United States, occupying the White House from 1977 to 1981.
In an apparent dig at President Trump, Sheffield said in a tweet Sunday that he believes Americans are missing “warmth and humility” in the Oval Office.
