Brick-throwing Ill. boy charged

CHICAGO — A 12-year-old boy who was shot by a 68-year-old Chicago woman after allegedly throwing bricks at her and breaking the windows of her home is facing an assault charge.

Chicago police say the 12-year-old and a 13-year-old boy were charged Wednesday with juvenile misdemeanor aggravated assault to a senior citizen. Police say the woman won't be charged because she was acting in self-defense.

According to police, she had gone grocery shopping Tuesday and returned home to find her windows broken and two boys fleeing the area. The boys later returned and allegedly threw bricks at her.

Police say she then pulled out a gun and began firing, hitting one child in the shoulder.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman has been indicted on charges that she made 14 airplane trips to transport marijuana from California to Ohio between November and her arrest in June, when authorities say she flew to Columbus with hundreds of pounds of the drug in her suitcases.

Lisette Lee flew from Van Nuys, Calif., on a private jet with a bodyguard and about 500 pounds of marijuana in 13 suitcases, federal investigators said.

She told investigators a friend paid her $60,000 to take suitcases from Los Angeles to an unattended hotel room in Columbus, stay for a few days and return with fewer pieces of luggage, the government said.
