Fargo relaxes flood measures

FARGO, N.D. —The mayor of Fargo, N.D., says it's time to start removing sandbags and taking down clay levees.

Fargo has been on alert since mid-March, when residents were told the Red River would crest weeks earlier than expected.

It reached nearly 37 feet on March 21 and had dropped to less than 30 feet Thursday morning. That means it's now below the level the National Weather Service considers a major flood threat.

Rules eased on flights over Bush ranch

DALLAS — The Federal Aviation Administration is relaxing the rules on flying over former President George W. Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, federal officials said.

A notice published Wednesday in the Federal Register says the U.S. Secret Service recognizes the need for ongoing security at the ranch, located about 95 miles south of Dallas, but considers it appropriate to significantly reduce the closed airspace around it following a security review.
