The record: The annual report of the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission, which oversees the Campaign Finance Act and laws relating to conflicts of interest, financial disclosure and the regulation of lobbying.

Why you'd want it: The report contains statistics about campaign contributions, lobbyists and investigations the commission has conducted.

Where you get the record: The most recent report, for 2009, is on the commissions' website at www.accesskansas.org/ethics. Click on the "View the 2009 annual report" link.
