Task force report on city's homeless available on Web

Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.

For recent You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.

The record: The report issued by the Taskforce to End Chronic Homelessness, a group that formed in 2006.

Why you'd want it: To learn more about homelessness in the Wichita area and what the task force has recommended as solutions. The plan, a draft of which was completed in January, includes estimates on the number of homeless people in the area as well as information about current programs that help people who are homeless.

Where you get the records: The report is available on the city's Web site, www.wichita.gov. Click on the report under the "Hot Topics" menu on the home page.

How much it will cost: The information is free.
