Kris Johnson spent eight seasons and 205 games with Boston and Pittburgh in the minors. He made 16 starts for the independent Kansas City T-Bones in 2011. On Sunday, Johnson pitched in the majors for the Pirates and pitched six strong innings in relief.

At WSU, elbow surgery interrupted a promising career in 2005 (robbing that team of a devastating Pelfrey-Johnson 1-2 punch in the rotation). He returned in 2006 to go 6-2 with a 4.86 ERA. For his career, Johnson went 16-2 with a 2.94 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 143.2 innings. As a freshman, he went 7-0 with a 2.01 ERA.
