Wichita weather: Clearing skies signal a welcome shift

There may be a few early morning sprinkles in the Wichita area Friday, forecasters say, but skies will gradually clear as the day lengthens.

Highs will only reach the low 80s with light and variable winds adding to the pleasant day. Skies will be partly cloudy overnight as lows fall to the low 60s in the Wichita area.

The weekend will be dry, sunny and pleasant, with highs in the low to mid-80s, forecasters say.

A high pressure system will be pushing into the Great Plains early next week, forecasters say, bringing a dry spell and temperatures more commonly associated with August to the area.

At long last, the region should have a chance to dry out for a while.
