Wichita State wants to make this game about depth and experience. The Shockers play nine. The Braves rely heavily on six players and get some contribution from two more. WSU has five seniors, three of whom are playing their fourth season in the MVC. Bradley plays two seniors, one of whom (Taylor Brown) sat out last season. Anthony Thompson, the other, is a backup.
That’s how the Shockers did so well on the road last season, dominating the second halves of games as they wore down teams and made few mistakes.
Bradley coach Geno Ford showers the Shockers with praise, calling them more athletic than Wisconsin and Michigan.Bob Lutz loves the top of the MVC and expects at least one at-large bid for the conference. The road didn’t give the Shockers many problems last season in MVC play. The MVC history for BU and WSU goes back to the 1940s. Yet this is the fourth time they will open the MVC schedule against each other. The most recent was a WSU win in 1989 in Wichita.
