Glickman's life-changing sick day

In an interview with Politico, former Wichita congressman and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman was asked what childhood event shaped him the most. "Winning election as president of the sixth-grade class at Fabrique Elementary School in Wichita, on a day I was out sick, probably started my political career," he said. And his favorite joke? "Boy goes to buy a hot dog at an outdoor stand. Sign says — 'get your hot dogs here, one end soybeans, the other end beef.' Boy says to the vendor, 'Mister, I have never seen a hot dog one end soybeans and the other end beef,' to which the vendor replies, 'Son, times are tough, and when times are tough, it's hard to make both ends meat.'"
