With today’s high of 106, 2011 has climbed to third place on Wichita’s all-time list of days with a temperature of at least 105.
There have been 16 such days this summer, according to the National Weather Service. Wednesday figures to another one, if forecasts verify.
It won’t be easy for 2011 to climb this list further, though. The fabled summer of 1980 saw 29 days of temperatures 105 or higher – including 22 in July alone. And 1936 recorded 22 days of 105 or higher.
