A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 6 p.m. for southeastern Sedgwick, southwestern Butler, eastern Sumner and northwest Cowley counties in southern Kansas.
At 4:58 p.m., meteorologists were tracking a thunderstorm capable of quarter-size hail, and winds of more than 60 mph. The storm was five miles northeast of South Haven, or 12 miles south of Wellington, and moving north at 60 miles an hour.
Among the areas threatened by this storm are Wellington, Oxford, Belle Plaine, Udall, Mulvane, Derby, Douglass, Rose Hill, northeast Wichita, McConnell Air Force Base, Andover and Augusta.
