Airbus is increasing production of A320 single-aisle aircraft from 36 per month to 42 per month.
Production will rise to 38 in August and to 40 in the first quarter of 2012 before moving to 42 by the end of the fourth quarter of 2012.
Airbus also plans to raise production of its A330 long-range aircraft from 8.5 per month to 10 in the second quarter of 2013.
Airbus has orders for 2,300 A320 aircraft and must increase production to meet customer demand, the company said.

Last year Airbus delivered 510 aircraft, including 401 A320s.
The Airbus A320 competes with Boeing‘s 737 aircraft.
