A textbook summer day is in the offing for the Wichita area today. Partly cloudy skies with temperatures of about 90 are expected, forecasters say, with a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms developing in the region this afternoon and evening.
Winds will be out of the north-northwest in the teens, with gusts topping 20 miles an hour. Overnight lows will slip to the mid-60s under cloudy skies, forecasters say, but skies should clear Thursday. Highs Thursday will be in the mid- to upper 80s.
