Northern Iowa helped the Shockers on Sunday, defeating Missouri State 60-59 at JQH Arena. The Bears play a lot of close games – six of their MVC games were decided by three points or less. It’s hard to win all those. WSU and MSU are tied atop the Valley with 9-2 records.
So the Shockers get a burst of good news heading to a tough road game at Indiana State on Tuesday. With eight MVC games remaining, the Shockers can’t afford to waste this opportunity. The schedule still favors Missouri State. Northern Iowa is lurking one game behind. WSU must play at both places in February.
The team that could determine the final standings? Evansville. All three contenders must play at Roberts Stadium.
The MVC schedules:
MSU - at Evansville, Indiana State, Bradley, at Illinois State, Drake, at SIU, Wichita State
UNI - Illinois State, at Drake, at Evansville, Wichita State, at Bradley, Indiana State, at Creighton
WSU – at Indiana State, Illinois State, SIU, at UNI, at Evansville, Creighton, at Missouri State
