A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 4:30 p.m. for portions of Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties.
At 3:26 p.m., National Weather Service meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing hail the size of quarters, as well as winds of more than 60 mph.
The storm was near Valley Center and moving northeast at 25 mph.
Among the cities affected by the warning are Valley Center, Whitewater, Potwin and Elbing.
