The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 9 p.m. for 42 counties in Kansas, including the Wichita metropolitan area.
“Severe storms are expected to develop late this afternoon and evening along a slow-moving cold front,” the weather service states on its home page.
The area covered by the watch includes eastern and south-central Kansas.
