Farewell to Roberts Stadium. WSU has enjoyed a reasonable amount of success here – winning four straight from 2004-2007. Randy Smithson won two of his four trips to Evansville, in 1997 and 1998. There are Valley venues with fewer good moments for the Shockers.
WSU’s best memory here may be from 2005. The Shockers blitzed the Aces with a 33-3 run to build a 40-10 lead on their way to an 81-65 win. In 2004, Matt Clark started at point guard for injured Fridge Holman and scored a career-high 15 points in an 86-66 win. Randy Burns led the Shockers with 23 points and Rob Kampman added 20.
Next season, the Aces play downtown in an 11,000-seat arena under construction.Around the Valley
