Asked by MSNBC to predict whether 2010 will be a repeat of 1994, when he lost the 4th Congressional District to Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, former Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman said he sees parallels in the economy but a difference in how much notice Democrats have had. "In September of 1994, I was 30 points ahead of my opponent, and I lost 60 days later by 5 points," Glickman said. He added: "Democrats today have ample warning and they are raising a lot of dollars, so I wouldn't be popping any champagne corks yet on this thing. There's just too much uncertainty." He advised Democratic incumbents to try to negate the national trend by running hard on the issues and their records, "doing hand-to-hand combat on the ground."
