Saturday's scores from the MIAA, KCAC and Jayhawk (updates)

Will update as I get them -TA

MIAA

No. 14 Missouri Western (0-0, 2-0) at No. 15 Washburn (0-0, 1-1) —The Ichabods hardly get a break in their MIAA opener after losing to No. 6 Abilene Christian on Sept. 4. Washburn’s offense has shown it can score with anybody, and boasts the MIAA’s leading receiver in Bishop Carroll product Joe Hastings (178.5 yards per game) and leading rusher in Vershon Moore (142 yards per game). On defense, however, Washburn has room to improve after giving up 34 points in each game so far — it also needs something out of preseason All-American Pierre Desir, whose big-play ability has been missing thus far.

Emporia State 30, Missouri Southern 27 FINAL – Huge win for the Hornets. 4 picks in fourth quarter for ESU.

Central Missouri (1-0, 2-1) at Pittsburg State (0-0, 2-0), 4 p.m.

Truman (0-0, 2-0) at Fort Hays State (0-0, 2-0), 7 p.m.

KCAC

No. 7 Ottawa (1-0, 2-0) at No. 9 McPherson (1-0, 2-0), 7 p.m. —Just three weeks into the season, this game could decide the KCAC champion and features the league’s two NAIA playoff qualifiers from 2009. McPherson wide receiver Andy Skinner had a career day in a 52-20 win at then-No. 15 Friends last Saturday with 268 yards and four touchdowns. That being said, he won’t even be the best wide receiver in today’s game. That honor belongs to Ottawa All-American and Wichita Southeast product Clarence Anderson, who leads the nation in receiving yards per game (156.5) and is second in all-purpose yards per game (255.5).

Sterling 17, Peru State 10 FINAL

Saint Mary (0-1, 0-2) at Kansas Wesleyan (1-0, 1-0), 6 p.m.

Tabor (0-1, 0-1) at Bethany (1-0. 1-0), 7 p.m.

Friends (0-1, 0-1) at Southwestern (0-1, 0-2), 7 p.m.

Southern Nazarene (2-1) at Bethel (0-1, 0-1), 7 p.m.

No. 6 Hutchinson 49, Highland 16 FINAL – Angelo Pease runs for 231 yards as Le Bleu Dragons move to 4-0

No. 3 Butler 21, Air Force Prep FINAL – Grizzlies get unexpected test at Colorado Springs

Independence (0-2, 0-3) at Dodge City (0-1, 0-2), 3 p.m.
