MVC basketball signees

Here’s something to ponder during the summer. The Missouri Valley Conference compiled a list of men’s basketball recruits.

None of the high school guys made the Rivals top 150 for the class of 2010Creighton’s Doug McDermott (son of coach Greg, he originally signed with UNI) and Indiana State’s Jake Kitchell are, by the Rivals ranking, the top recruits. Both are worthy of three stars. SIU’s Devonte Drinkard, Creighton’s Will Artino and Aaron Cooper and Corey Copeland of Missouri State rated two stars.Creighton’s Gregory Echinique is probably the early pick for top recruit. He has 39 games of Division I experience at Rutgers, where he averaged 9.2 points and 8.2 rebounds as a freshman and seven games as a sophomore. Many times transfers from BCS conferences don’t live up to the hype in the MVC. Echinique will be a good addition if he duplicates those numbers and would likely lead the MVC in rebounding.Illinois State’s John Wilkins is the most intriguing recruit in the MVC. Ditching Bradley for its nearby rival is fun stuff for the rivalry.
