Candidates showing up for work, too

Give credit to both Reps. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, and Jerry Moran, R-Hays, for not forsaking their current jobs in the pursuit of the one they both want next — as U.S. senator. During the session of Congress that began in January 2009, Tiahrt has missed 68 roll call votes (4.9 percent); Moran has missed 63 votes (4.5 percent). Meanwhile, also according to the Washington Post database, wannabe governor Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., whose percentage of missed roll call votes reached 30.5 percent during his 2008 presidential run, has missed only nine votes (1.5 percent) since January 2009. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., has missed 6.9 percent of the votes this session.
