The National Weather Service in Wichita has posted a flood watch today for portions of central and southeast Kansas, including the Wichita metropolitan area.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rain at times today, with highs reaching the low 80s. At times, the rain will be torrential, weather officials warn.
North-northeasterly winds will be steady in the teens, with gusts topping 20 miles an hour. More heavy rain is possible again tonight, but then a break from the rain arrives.
Friday is expected to be sunny, with highs in the low 80s. Saturday should be similar, before slight chances for rain return to the forecast on Sunday and Monday.
