From Associated Press:
The Kansas Senate minority leader is asking a fellow senator to abandon his bid for the Democratic nomination for secretary of state for the good of the party.
Anthony Hensley of Topeka has sent a letter to 27,000 registered Democrats announcing that he was endorsing incumbent Chris Biggs and asked that Sen. Chris Steineger of Kansas City drop out. Bi ggs was appointed to the post by Gov. Mark Parkinson in March.
Hensley says the party needs to unite behind one standard bearer and that Steineger’s problems with the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission make him a less than desirable candidate.
