Kansas Treasurer's office returns $65,000 to the state

TOPEKA – The state general fund got boost from the state Treasure’s Office to the tune of $65,000.

Treasurer Dennis McKinney, a Democrat, announced Friday that his office came in under budget and was able to return money to the state.

“During the past two years our office has emphasized the importance of doing more with less,” McKinney said in a written statesmen. “Our staff is full of smart, creative and dedicated public servants who have found ways to improve services while cutting overhead costs.”

McKinney, a Democrat, is running in the November election and faces off against Republican Ron Estes, Sedgwick County treasurer.
