TOPEKA – With Election Day less than 24 hours away, Gov. Mark Parkinson tossed his support behind Secretary of State Chris Biggs in the Democratic contest for that slot.
"Last March I had the privilege of appointing Chris Biggs as Secretary of State citing his experience holding a statewide office and his commitment to public service. Today I am once again endorsing Chris in the Democratic primary," Parkinson said in a written statement.
Biggs faces state Sen. Chris Steineger, D-Kansas City, Kan., in the primary, for which polls open tomorrow at 7 a.m.
The Democratic primary winner will face the Republican winner in a three-way race that pits Shawnee County Election Commissioner Elizabeth “Libby” Ensley, J.R. Claeys of Salina and former Kansas GOP chairman and law professor Kris Kobach against each other.
