Wichita native, WW II fighter ace and businessman William Paul Thayer dies

Wichita native and Texas aviation and business icon William Paul Thayer died Thursday. according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He was 90.

Thayer was a World War II fighter ace, a longtime Chance Vought test pilot and executive and eventually chief executive of LTV Corp.  He was born in Oklahoma, grew up in Wichita and was a graduate of the University of Kansas.
