Was Roeder a lone wolf?

The current issue of Ms. magazine includes an article by Amanda Robb challenging the law enforcement conclusion that Scott Roeder acted as a "lone wolf" when he murdered Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller a year ago this week. Robb — who is the niece of Barnett Slepian, a New York abortion provider murdered in 1998 — said she interviewed Roeder more than a dozen times, met several times with his supporters, and permissibly recorded numerous three-way telephone conversations Roeder had her place to his friends. She reported on Roeder's connections to the anti-abortion groups Operation Rescue and Army of God and to individuals who supported attacks on abortion providers, and how those three circles overlap. Wichita-based Operation Rescue has condemned the murder and denied having any significant connections to Roeder. Robb's conclusion: "Wolves run in packs."
