The Wingnuts have signed pitcher Ben Graham, who pitched this spring at Emporia State and was named the school’s most outstanding male athlete for 2009-10.
Graham, a right-hander, will make his debut on Wednesday, when he’ll start against Sioux Falls on the road. Graham replaces Brandon Mathes in the rotation and on Wichita’s 22-man roster.
This season at ESU, Graham was 8-3 with a 2.45 ERA, which led the MIAA. He had five complete games and two shutouts among his 13 starts and allowed a .238 batting average.
Graham has already pitched around 90 innings this spring, so he may need to be monitored closely since he’ll be adjusting to a greater workload. He pitched at Hutchinson CC before moving onto ESU, where he had a 16-7 record in two seasons.
