Palin's taste in planes

The fuss about the contract for a Sarah Palin speaking engagement found by dumpster-diving California State University students mostly has concerned the contractual language calling for SUVs, bendable straws and wooden lecterns. But there also was this sight for Wichita eyes made sore by thousands of general-aviation layoffs: "The private aircraft MUST BE a Lear 60 or larger (as defined by interior cabin space) for West Coast Events; or, a Hawker 800 or larger (as defined by interior cabin space) for East Coast Events. . . ." The Learjet 60 XR (the latest edition of the Learjet 60) is produced at Bombardier Aerospace in Wichita, and the Hawker 800 is assembled at Hawker Beechcraft in Wichita.
