Cessna Aircraft CEO Jack Pelton is asking those in the general aviation industry to take a leadership role in finding solutions to aviation environmental issues.
Pelton spoke after receiving the 2010 Lindbergh Award in Lakeland, Fla., where the annual Sun ‘n Fun Fly-in is in full swing.
Aviation has an outstanding track record in reducing its environmental impact, Pelton said. But further reductions require partnerships between industry and government and a commitment to finding technically and financially viable solutions everyone can live with.
Issues include aircraft emissions, operations, infrastructure and research and development, he said.
