The wind takes center stage again today in much of Kansas, as persistent and gusty southerly breezes will define a warm, sunny day.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for more than three dozen counties in the western two-thirds of the state – including Wichita – for most of the day. The advisory will stretch from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Wichita area.
The winds will intensify from the teens into the mid-20s by early this afternoon, forecasters warn, then strengthen into the 30s by late afternoon. Gusts should reach 45 mph by early this evening.
Highs are expected to reach the upper 70s under partly cloudy skies, forecasters say. The winds won’t ease much overnight, when temperatures should bottom out in the upper 50s.
Wednesday looks like it will mirror today, with highs in uppper 70s under partly sunny skies – and more gusty winds.
