Taxes aren't big factor in business relocation

Contrary to what some anti-tax groups say, tax rates aren't a big factor in business-relocation decisions, King White, president of Dallas-based Site Selection Group, told The Eagle editorial board. Provided the tax rates in a state are in the middle or below the national average — as they are in Kansas — "corporations aren't looking at that," he said. King's firm, which is a leading relocation consulting firm, just completed a market study for the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition. He said that bigger factors for relocation decisions were the availability and cost of labor, good land sites, cost of power and incentives.
