Boeing 787 facility in Charleston taking shape

Construction of Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner facility in Charleston, S.C. is making visible progress.  The first steel column has been installed at the 1.2 million square-foot site, the company reports.

The facility will perform final assembly of the 787 and deliver the planes to customers around the world. Production is scheduled to begin in July 2011. Boeing will deliver the first 787 built in Charleston in the first quarter of 2012.
