Wichita will see plenty of sunshine and wind today, with highs in the 80s and gusts surging past 40 miles an hour, forecasters say.
A wind advisory covering more than 60 counties in Kansas – including all 26 in the Wichita branch’s coverage area – will be in effect for most of today. The advisory for the Wichita area extends from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Winds will blow steadily in the mid-20s and mid-30s, with gusts topping 45 miles an hour.
Strong thunderstorms are possible east of the Flint Hills today, forecasters say, but Wichita should stay dry. A cold front pushing through the area late today will bring much cooler temperatures to the region Wednesday, with highs only in the upper 50s.
