Wichita State pitcher Charlie Lowell said he will see a doctor on Monday to check his left forearm and elbow. Lowell, a sophomore lefty, threw 11 pitches on Sunday before complaining of tightness in his arm.“Elbow soreness, and forearm,” he said. “Mostly in the forearm. It bothered me all week, but it got better. With a six-run lead there was no need to push it.”Lowell was coming off his best outing of the season a week ago against Bradley.“I’ve never had any arm problems in my life,” he said.Should the Shockers lose Lowell (2-2, 4.56 ERA) for any length of time, it’s a big blow. Josh Smith would likely step into his role as weekend starter, leaving WSU short a mid-week starter. Freshman T.J. McGreevy, who did make the trip to Evansville because of shoulder soreness, would be an option. Coaches expect him to throw soon.
