Students from Mead Middle School package meals for shipment to earthquake victims in Haiti City Hall, Numana and the Salvation Army are hoping to find volunteers to package boxes of food on March 20 and 21 for victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
The effort will take place in the Expo Hall of Century II. For more information, visit www.millionmeals.net.
Volunteers will pour rice, grains, vitamins and other products into plastic bags that will be distributed by the Salvation Army at camps for earthquake survivors in Haiti. (The meals are said to taste like a bland rice casserole.)
Haiti’s situation is still dire. “Those needs have not diminished whatsoever,” said Major Douglas Rowland, of the Salvation Army.
