Fog, clouds to persist today in Wichita area

Dense fog is cloaking another day this week in the Wichita area.

A dense fog advisory is in effect until noon for five counties in southern and central Kansas: McPherson, Marion, Harvey, Sedgwick and Chase.

Visibility will drop to less than a quarter-mile at times in the warned area. Once the fog lifts, the clouds will remain.

Highs should only reach the low to mid-40s, forecasters say. Winds will be light and out of the north.

Lows tonight should slip into the mid-20s. The weekend should be reasonably pleasant for mid-January, with sunny skies and highs of around 50.

Fog may be an issue again Saturday morning, forecasters say.
