Congratulations to the neighbors and city officials who were able to break ground Friday on the Nomar International Marketplace on West 21st Street. It seems newly certain that their patience over many years and meetings soon will be rewarded with a plaza, shops, offices and transit center in the heart of the historic district. Funded in part by federal dollars, the $750,000 public-private partnership will need more time and work to realize its planners' dreams, including that of restoring the Nomar Theater, but all of Wichita stands to benefit from this new life in a culturally rich core neighborhood.
