Parkinson opposes more cuts to education, tax on services

Gov. Mark Parkinson said he is considering various options for dealing with the state budget shortfall, possibly including a tax increase, but he ruled out two options during a speech last week to the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce. Parkinson doesn't support a sales tax on professional services, and he opposes more cuts to education. "If we want to maintain the integrity of our public school system, and our Regents system, we cannot cut education any more," Parkinson said.
