Neither team is expected to seriously contend for a Big 12 North title, but when today’s game at Arrowhead Stadium is over either Kansas State or Iowa State will sit atop the divisional standings all by itself.
In a rare down weekend for North teams, only the Wildcats and Cyclones are playing a game that truly matters. Colorado already lost (again) to West Virginia and Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri are all off.
Even if less than 40,000 fans are expected to attend the game, that makes this neutral-field meeting the premier match-up of the weekend around these parts.
And it should be a good one. Both teams have their strengths. Both teams have their pretty noticeable deficiencies. Neither was picked to make a bowl game at the beginning of the season.

Sounds like an even match to me. Should be a close one. (more…)
