Blocking appointees crossed line

Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts crossed the line when they blocked appointments to key administration positions, including the new secretary of the Army, in an effort to prevent Guantanamo Bay detainees from being transferred to Fort Leavenworth. So it was good that the Kansas senators removed their procedural hold Wednesday. They said in a statement that they were able to share their concerns with administration officials. "We are confident that because of this good-faith dialogue, detainees will not be transferred to Fort Leavenworth," they said.
