A baggage tip to keep in mind when flying Allegiant

WICHITA — Last week, four of us from the Wichita Eagle took a fun girls’ trip from Wichita to Los Angeles using Allegiant Air’s new nonstop service.

It was great not changing planes along the way. But here’s a tip. If you’re going to check a bag, be sure to call and pay the $30 round-trip charge for it at least four hours before your flight departs. If you wait until you get to the counter — or call with fewer than four hours before departure — the fee spikes to $50.

Trust me on this one.
