More rain, more flooding threats for Wichita area

Numerous slow-moving storms are expected to continue to dump heavy rains in the Wichita area and in southeast Kansas today, aggravating the flooding risk in already saturated areas, the National Weather Service is reporting.

A flash flood watch has been extended through early this evening in numerous counties in and east of the Wichita area, including Butler, Cowley, Sedgwick and Sumner. Southeast Kansas counties included in the watch are Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson.

Highs in the Wichita area are expected to reach the mid-70s, with light winds out of the east-northeast.
