Spirit exec has fun but strikes out on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire"

WICHITA — He's not richer by a million — or even just a few hundred dollars — but Randy Davis had fun being on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”

The vice president and controller for Spirit AeroSystems was on the show Thursday.

"I hit a foul ball, and then I struck out," Davis says.

He was playing the old style of the game, which has 10 contestants competing to get to the big chair.

The first question he answered correctly. Davis was able to name four actors — Conan O'Brien, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Danny DeVito — in descending order of height.

He answered in 6.2 seconds, but someone else beat his time.

So on the second question, Davis says, "My focus was on speed and not on accuracy."

He was not able to correctly name the following American dances in order of their age — the Twist, the Hustle, the Moonwalk and the Achy Breaky Heart.

"I did not dance much in my youth," Davis says.

"The competitive side of me is disappointed that I did not get to the hot seat," he says.

But Davis and his brothers tried out for the show in "spirited brotherly competition," and he's the only one who made it on, so it’s not all bad.

"I did it as a bragging-rights competition with my brothers."
