WICHITA - Lines of strong thunderstorms have developed in central Kansas and the Wichita area, and they could bring hail, heavy rains and high winds.
A pair of small thunderstorms have developed near Cheney and Viola, moving east and southeast. Storms also extend back into central Kansas, more than 100 miles northwest of Wichita.
While severe weather is not expected from these storms, forecasters are urging residents to be alert to conditons.
The storms will hold temperatures down, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, forecasters say. Winds will be out of the east and southeast, gusting to more than 20 miles an hour.
Friday is expected to be hot, with highs topping 100.
